ATTENUATION COMPARISON CHART - 50 OHM COAXIAL CABLES

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR
50 OHM COAXIAL CABLE

Coax RG58 C/U Attenuation vs Messi & Paoloni Airborne 5

Our AIRBORNE 5 is an incredibly lightweight coaxial cable, weighting 1,4 Kg/100m less than a classic RG58. For this reason it is particularly appreciated in DX-pedition.

Both have a diameter of 5 mm, but the difference in terms of attenuation, as you can see on the tab above, is abysmal.

Having a PE sheath and being waterproof, AIRBORNE 5 is also useful for direct burial and the most extreme conditions.

HYPERFLEX 5 is slightly larger than the other two cables (5.4mm/.212" overall diameter) and certainly represents a significant new entry in Ham Radio World, being much more suitable for applications where extreme flexibility is a must.

Coax RG213 U Attenuation vs Messi & Paoloni Ultraflex 7

Observing the characteristics described above, you can see how our ULTRAFLEX 7  is superior to classic RG213 in every single value (starting from 28 MHz). All this despite it has a overall diameter of only 7,3mm (.287") compared to the RG213's 10,3mm (.400").

Universally acclaimed for the incredible flexibility that distinguishes this stalwart design of modern technology, ULTRAFLEX 7  has been choosen as the official coaxial cable of the upcoming World RadioSport Team Championship 2018 in Germany  (WRTC 2018) and will be used by the participant teams during the competition.

Coax RG213 U Attenuation vs Messi & Paoloni Ultraflex 10

If it's true that Ultraflex 7 is better than RG213 despite a smaller diameter,  just imagine the difference with ULTRAFLEX 10 and HYPERFLEX 10 which have the same overall diameter of 10,3mm (.400"). The duel in attenuation leaves no room for comparison.

For what concerns the differences between ULTRAFLEX 10 and HYPERFLEX 10, they can be synthesized as follows:

1) the number of wires in the central conductor (7 of the first one vs 19 of the second one), for this reason HYPERFLEX 10 results even more flexible;

2) HYPERFLEX 10 braid material is made up of copper clad aluminium which makes it lighter (1 Kg/100m), notwithstanding 24 more wires have been added to the braid.

3) HYPERFLEX 10 always shows significant improvements at high frequencies.  Starting from 1296 MHz we can see a great leap forward which becomes greater and greater at the highest frequencies. In a few words the best  10,3mm (.400") ultraflexible cable for microwavers!

RG213 Coax Datasheet vs m&p Solid Conductor Cable

Remaining in the 10,3mm (.400") league, we have two more propositions with solid core. This models trade the extreme flexibility for improved attenuations, due to high quality oversized solid conductors. Here the difference with the classic RG213 becomes even deeper in terms of attenuation. They can be considered the best solution for a multi-directional antenna.

BROAD PRO 50 Competition is a coax entirely made of pure copper, while AIRBORNE 10, made of copper clad aluminium, is 45,3% lighter than an average 10,3mm cable. This makes of Airborne 10 the very best solution for Dx-ers needing the ultimate performance.

AIRBORNE 10 has the possibility of being buried without any problems thanks to its PE sheath.

Best RF Coaxial Cable Performances Hyperflex 13

These two 12.7mm (.500") coaxial cables are surely the most powerful of the range. They can be compared without any problems even to the 15mm (.600") coaxials of the competition.

They can show off an unbelievable flexibility and lightness despite their size and they are a must for the most ambitious amateur radio installations.

The substantial difference between the two, lies in the central conductor wires. While the competitors are still stuck in the 7 wires stranded core composition, we have moved one leap forward with ULTRAFLEX 13, sporting a 19 wires composition and two leaps forward with HYPERFLEX 13, which design shows a beautifully crafted 37 wires extra-smooth stranded core.

While ULTRAFLEX 13 is  at low frequencies, HYPERFLEX 13 is slightly better at high ones.
